Task 1 & 2

This was my 3D Modelling Ideas generation I had, as we've been tasked with creating our own city block in 3DS Max.

During this period we were tasked with collecting cityscape images and/or google map images, and writing a brief description of design and how we could potentially re-create them in 3DS Max.

I took this oppertunity to grab a camera from the ERC suite and head out to the city centre and capture several building structures, I had gone to drake circus and captured several building structures, which I then later on attempted to recreate in 3DS Max.

The Chosen building/street I tried to recreate was Armada Way.

I had chosen to take several images of the streets, for research and decisions, but I did eventually decide to create Armada way and M&S or rather attempt to, the architectual elements of each of the buildings come across very artistic for each of the images and buildings, the area itself is meant to be quite inspirational as it is all built near the local university, so its no suprise that each of the buildings have been built in an artistic manner.

I didnt get very far in re-creating it and only created a short area of the street, as my main focus was trying to build up and colour one of the shops on the street. it was shortly after this our lesson  plans moved on to creating more in depth features for buildings, which I will be able to use the tools learnt to create better buildings, some of which can be seen below.

This is a image of a brief demo we did for creating a building wall, we used various techniques, including the inset, bevel and extrude tools, to create windows and shape for the walls.

We then went on to be tasked with creating our own street in 3DS max.

This is a building structure that we were tasked with creating in 3DS max by ourselves, I was unsure on how to create a connected bridge, so I created my own, using multiple segments and using the extrude tool and then using the turbosmooth modifier while creating windows in it as well.

I had firstly created two towers using the techniques I had learned, I then went on to add a small street and a cathedral to the mix.

I had briefly created a mood board for the kind of city I want to create, I would like to create a city built in a futuristic setting, i believe it would be reasonably challanging, and quite interesting to do as well, i want to take inspiration from these kinds of environments.

We had been tasked with attempting to creating a type of bridge, on our own, I had been using a guide but was unsuccessful in creating a bridge, I then asked for some help on explaining how to extract lines into shapes and bridges, I then created the following.

this comprised of line drawings and extruding, using various other tools to create the shapes.

We've been tasked with thinking up some items which could potentially be used in our 3D Design....

I came up with several Ideas but then thought maybe a futuristic city is too un-original, so I decided to to do a post-apocalyptic city, I am aware this could be very challanging, but i think this could be quite interesting as well.

my city would consist of several items which could include....

destroyed cars, radioactive barrels, derelict buildings, chemical plants and factories, cracked roads, broken towers. these were my very brief concept images for the 6 kind of items I will have in my post apocalyptic city.

Then this image above is a photoshopped and more detailed concept of the nuclear factory concept, which we were tasked with doing.

these images above were my concepts for what i could add into my final finished product of a street I have been creating, some of the concept had made it in to the final, like the half destroyed buildings, however I have yet to create any power plants and some of the other items.
